Customs and documentation

Most delays at the border come down to paperwork. We help you get it right before your shipment leaves Brownsville.

What customs looks at

Every shipment that crosses is checked against its paperwork. Customs wants to know what's inside, how many, what it's worth and, for commercial goods, where it was made. When these details are missing or don't match the boxes, the shipment can be held, inspected or sent back.

Documents we help with

  • Commercial invoice: what you're selling, to whom and at what price.
  • Packing list: what's in each box or pallet, with weights and counts.
  • Declared value: backed by receipts or invoices for new merchandise.
  • Product descriptions clear enough for customs to classify your goods.
  • Certificate of origin information when your goods may qualify for USMCA treatment.

Restricted and regulated goods

Some products need permits, labelling or approval from Mexican authorities before they can enter, including food, cosmetics, medicine, electronics and used goods. Others can't cross at all. We'll tell you which category your goods fall into before you ship.

What we don't do

We're not a customs broker. Formal customs entries and Mexican pedimentos are filed by licensed brokers, and we coordinate with them for you. Our job is making sure your paperwork is complete and correct before it reaches them.
